Planning for Better Days
Our lovely valley is sun-drenched most of the year. But here we are in the dead of winter, and right now we’re under a thick covering of cold, gray cloudiness. You could call it a concrete sky. It’s close to the same color and nearly as hard to penetrate as concrete. The sun can barely get through and our temperatures hover between the upper 20’s and the mid 30’s.
This is the time of year to be planning a vacation to warmer climates. Or, if you are smart, time to actually GO on a vacation to warmer climates. Since I can’t do the latter, I like to review my photos from trips to warm places. This photo was taken on the island of Coronado, just minutes from downtown San Diego. I love the palm trees.
It’s easy to be gloomy in the current physical and fiscal conditions. Instead of focusing on the concrete sky, how about planning for better, more opportune times? Just like vacation planning can give you something to save for and look forward to, so can strategic planning of your marketing efforts and dollars. If planning isn’t your cup of tea, sit down and have a cup of tea — or coffee if you prefer — with your marketing consultant. Talk about things like:
- The time of year most people buy your product
- The demographic characteristics of your best clients
- The best media with which to reach that demographic
- Vacations in the tropics
Okay. I threw in that last one just for fun. You can say I’m preoccupied. Wait! I think I see the sun!
