		<description>Another example are political campaign signs.  Some people throw everything on their sign - their name, position desired, a slogan, logos - the overall result is a blur.  What do voters really need?  The person&#039;s name and the position they are running for!  Leave out the rest of the junk!</description>

		<description>I agree that negative ads must work otherwise they wouldn&#039;t be used.  There is a risk, however.  Ad content can get mixed up in a person&#039;s mind so that your company is associated with the negative ad, or the competitor is unduly highlighted.  For example, there was a commercial where one fast food company was slamming Burger King.  For the life of me I can&#039;t remember the company who the ad was for or what their point was - I just remember Burger King.  The ad actually reinforced the competition, in my mind at least.

Subway does a good job of getting around this by not targeting a specific burger/fast food joint.  They created a &#039;generic&#039; fast food joint and this approach seems to work.</description>
